Lake Butler - Steve O. Thornton 60, of Lake Butler passed away Thursday morning after a long illness. He was born in Lake Butler, where he lived his entire life. He was preceded in death by his father Elzie Thornton. He was in the U.S. Army for 3 years before, working at the Department of Corrections for 20 years. He was a member and Deacon of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Raiford. He was a 1970 Graduate of Union County High School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Gail Arnold Thornton; daughter Stacy Kingsbury and husband Richard of Lake Butler; son Steven Thornton and wife Amanda of Lake Butler, his mother and stepfather Evelyn Sapp Kelly and Harold Kelly; 3 grandchildren: Lindsay and Jessica Kingsbury and Mason Thornton; 3 brothers Stanley (Donna) of Lake Butler, Huey (Pauline) of Live Oak, and Roger (Cara) of Gainesville; 3 sisters Shirley Godwin of Lake Butler, Rita Douglas (Bobby) of Lake Butler and Selena Thornton of Lake Butler.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday Morning Nov. 27 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fellowship Baptist Church of Raiford. Rev. Herald Hudson will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery on the Olustee Road 5 Miles North West of Lake Butler.

Visitation will be held Monday night Nov. 26, 2012 from 6 to 8 p. m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Raiford. Archer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 386-496-2008. In Lieu of Flowers family wishes donations are made to the Fellowship Baptist Church P.O. Box 335, Raiford, Florida 32083.
