Gainesville - Walter DeCourseu, 79, retired Pharmacy Technician VA Medical Center passed away February 13, 2013 at the VA Medical Center. Born in Thomasville, GA he moved to Alachua, FL at a young age. He later moved away and returned making Gainesville his home. He was a member of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Walter G. DecOursey, Philadelphia, PA. Titus G. DeCoursey, Inglewood, CA Zechariah D. DeCoursey, Minneapolis, MN; three daughters; Pamela Y. Wilson, (Pervis) Philadelphia, PA. Olivia D. DeCoursey, Matthews NC., Sharon Y. Clark, Phila PA; brother Joel DeCoursey, Boca Raton, FL; sisters Louise Cohen, & Palice DeCoursey, Both of Gainesville, FL; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral Services for Mr. DeCoursey, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday Feb. 23, 2013at Johnson Chapel Baptist Church Rev. Samuel R. Seales, Pastor, Rev. Michael Washington Eulogist Burial will follow in Monday in the Florida National Cemetery Bushnell FL at 11:30 AM Arrangements are under the care of Chestnut Funeral Home 18 N.W. 8th Ave. Gainesville, FL. Visitation Friday 2:00-7:00 PM Chestnut Memorial Chapel and on Sat at the church one hour before the service. The cortege will form at the home of his sister Mrs. Louise Cohen 1437 N.E. 37th Place at 10:15 AM.
