Gainesville - William (Bill) Jacob Pressler, Jr. passed away June 22, 2013 at Oak Hammock retirement community, Gainesville, Florida. Bill was born in West Palm Beach Florida, October 16, 1922 to William J. and Rebecca Jane Pressler. Bill was a graduate of the University of Florida
and was a US Naval aviator for thirty-three years. He started his career after flight school and training, by flying supplies into Germany during the Berlin Air Lift and flew in 2 additional wars/conflicts, as well as, provided peace time security for the country that he loved. He was decorated with many medals and commendations, because of his service and bravery. After retiring from the US Navy, he and his wife made Gainesville their home and he worked for both the University of Florida and Sunland Center before retiring. He enjoyed golf, tennis, and the GATORS (any sport). He bought his first motorcycle at age 60 and road until he was 85. He came by his adventuresome spirit naturally and truly believed the world was meant to be explored. Thus he thought of motorcycles as a land based airplane. He road on the two lane roads of Florida and the southeastern states by himself, with friends and a local motorcycle club who met one day every weekend to ride and stop for breakfast along the way. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Ann Pressler and younger sister Adelaide Pileggi. He is survived by his younger sister Nancy Frank (and her husband Gary Frank) of Tallahassee, his three children, Steve Pressler of Stamford, CT; Tom Pressler of Incline Village, NV; and Jan Pressler of Pawlet, VT; five grandchildren: Ashley Pressler-Gray, Whitney Ayling, Andrew Pressler, Danielle Pressler, Tiffany Pressler, and five great grandchildren: Colin Gray, Brayden Gray, Emelyn Gray, Darwyn Ayling and Bryce Ayling. He will be inurned in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia later this summer with full military honors.
