Newberry - Donald Ray "Pete" Willingham, 76, resident of Newberry, Florida, died on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, following a long illness.

Mr. Willingham was born in Miami, Florida, on September 1, 1936 to the late James C. and Minnie Johnson Willingham. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, and had worked for many years as an elevator installer. He moved to Newberry in 1968, where he farmed, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a longtime member of the Newberry United Methodist Church. Mr. Willingham was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Willingham in 2011.

He is survived by one sister, Betty Voorhees, of Archer, along with a host of extended family.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M., in the Chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Rev. Jess Baker, officiating. Interment will follow in Newberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 6 to 7 P.M., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newberry United Methodist Church, 24845 W. Newberry Road, Newberry, FL 32669.
