Alachua, FL - Daniel H. James, 68, of Alachua, FL, formerly of Coral Springs, FL. He passed away August 10 at Shands Hospital after a brief illness. Son of the late Evelyn & Benjamin James Sr. of Ebensburg, PA. Survived by wife Donna James, also of Alachua; son Benjamin, daughter-in-law Melissa Boss, & grandson William, all of Falls Church, VA.

Following graduation from Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg in 1963, Daniel served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Thereafter, he attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1972. He continued on to the University of Florida, earning a Master's degree in Audiology in 1975 & returning for his doctorate in 2004. He worked briefly for the Broward County Schools as an audiologist before opening the Fort Lauderdale Hearing Center. He operated his office for more than 20 years. Upon retirement, he returned to Alachua County in 2010. A devoted husband, loving father, and new grandfather, he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday at the family home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL via their website at www.moffitt.org.
