BARBARA MOLLIE, 86
High Springs - Barbara Mollie Payne, 86, of High Springs, Florida, died suddenly Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. She was born to the late Frances and Violet Huff, April 24, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Barbara was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she met and married the love of her life the late Virgil Payne in 1944. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where their four children were born. They relocated to Merritt Island, Florida in 1962, and then retired to High Springs, Florida in 1989.
Barbara was a wife, a mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and was loved by all who knew her.
In Merritt Island, Florida, Barbara was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, worked at Ivey's as a department manager. She played a very active role in the activities of her children such as band parent and cheerleading parent.
Barbara was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of High Springs, the High Springs Friends of the Library, and the High Springs Women's Club.
Barbara loved reading and spending time on Facebook printing off reams of pictures of her grandchildren and great grandchildren
Barbara is survived by her daughter Sherry Hughes of Gainesville, Florida; Dana and Mike Holderness of Cary, North Carolina and Tim and Selina Payne. She has 7 grandchildren: Mollie (Jon), Chad (Malia), Eric, Tim Jr ( Jessica) Joe (Sharlene), Crystal and Jimmy who loved her dearly. She was blessed with many great grandchildren.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Virgil, and her son Ron Payne.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 6:00 pm., May 10, 2014, at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. A visitation with the family will be held following in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara's memory to the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church youth group, at 14105 NW 298th Street, High Springs, Florida 32643 or to High Springs Friends of the Library , 19708 NW County Road 236, High Springs, Florida 32643.
