BUIE, CLARA FAYE, 86
Clara Faye Buie, 86, of High Springs, Florida passed away at her home on February 4, 2018. Faye was born May 17, 1931 in Camden, Tennessee, to Otis and Mattie Bates. She loved to share stories about growing up in a large family, with numerous siblings. In 1950, Faye married George Buie. They lived in several states and cities, where she worked as a mother and homemaker. In 1968, the family moved to Alachua, and in the early 80s, George and Faye settled in High Springs, where they would live for the remainder of their days. She was a member of the Church of God of High Springs for many years, where she sang in the choir and faithfully served in many other areas. She also volunteered her time several days a week at Graceworks of High Springs. Faye loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she found great joy in taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is remembered for her crochet, sewing, and crafting skills, as well as her delicious cooking. Most of all, she was known for her love of Jesus and her sweet, gentle, and loving spirit. She never met a stranger, and made everyone she met and shared conversation with feel welcomed and loved. She will be greatly missed, but we take solace in the certainty that we will meet her again in Heaven. She is proceeded in death by her husband, George Buie, parents, Otis and Mattie Bates, twin sister, Maye Brandon, sisters Geraldine Watters, Marie Inman, and Sadie Baker, brothers Edward Bates, Cecil Bates, and James Bates. She is survived by her sister, Daris (Bobby) Nelson of Camden, TN, daughter, Clara (Bill) Bembry of High Springs; son, Tom (Leigh) Buie of Jackson, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Ring of Buford, GA, Kimi (Derrick) Hines of High Springs, TJ Buie of Jackson, TN, Sara Kate (Nick) Farley of Mumford, TN, Maddie (Matt) Folds of Meigs, GA, and Tel Glenn of Jackson, TN; great-grandchildren, Katie and Macy Ring of Buford, GA, and Christopher Hines of High Springs; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7 from 5-7pm at Evans-Carter Funeral Home in High Springs. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8 at 11:00 am at the Church of God of High Springs.
