Curtis Vinson Harper, age 81, died Sunday December 30, 2012 at his home surrounded by family.

Curtis was born in Savannah, GA and grew up in Albany, GA. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1954 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, then he served his country in the Unites States Army. In 1973 he moved to Gainesville, FL and was a metal building and insurance salesman. In retirement he became an antique dealer and estate salesman. Curtis was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, FL. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, John Scott (Anna) Harper, Gainesville, FL., daughter and son-in-law, Hollis Harper (David) Wooley, Gainesville, FL., brothers Richard Harper, Atlanta, GA., James B. Harper ll, Boca Raton, FL., and two grandchildren, Harper L. Wooley and Bear V. Wooley.

A Service of Remembrance will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 11:00AM at the First United Methodist Church, 419 N.E. 1st St., Gainesville, FL. Interment will be private for family only. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the , 2119 S.W. 16th St., Gainesville, FL. 32608 or the First United Methodist Church, 419 N.E. 1st St., Gainesville, FL. 32601 in memory of Curtis V. Harper. Arrangements are under the care of MILAM FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 311 S. Main St. Gainesville, FL. 352-376-5361.
