Dorothy 'Dot' Marie (Bailey) Kinard, age 85, of Gainesville, FL passed away on Friday, August 3rd, 2018 in Rockledge, FL.
Dot was born in Chattanooga, TN on September 17th, 1932 and spent her childhood years there until she graduated from Central High School in 1950.
In 1956, she married Chester Bennett 'Ben' Kinard and eventually settled in Gainesville, Florida where her three children were raised. Professionally, she worked for Shands Hospital at the University of Florida for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
Dot is survived by her sister, Helen Bailey Perkins, son Monte Kinard, and two daughters Marcia Hall and Lori (Richard) Thawley. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Whether it be the Scrabble table, or 'Words with Friends', Dot always came out on top. She also stayed active by calling the steps for line dancing, riding bike trails and cheering on her Florida Gators.
Above all, Dot enjoyed spending time with her family. She looked forward to the summers where her grandchildren would visit, where memories were created that will stay with them forever in their hearts.
Dot was the root of the family vine, instilling family values, love, and happiness.
