Born 12-29-1922, Eva Alice (Bland) Michelfelder passed away on 10-3-2013 and was interred at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Hanceville, AL. Married 9-9-1939 to Ervin Walter Michelfelder (deceased 1-25-2002), she is survived by daughters, Mickie (Tony) Miller and Shirley (Dave) Pridgen; grandchildren, Adam (Samantha) Miller, Susan (Roland) Chambers, Brian (Hadley) Pridgen, and Michael (Kara) Pridgen; and great-grandchildren, Elijah Miller, Nelly Chambers, Benjamin Pridgen, and Benjamin Chambers.
Born to a large family with six sisters and four brothers, she grew up in Hanceville, AL, as a homemaker and farm wife. She worked for the King Edward Cigar Company in Cullman, AL, and the Singer Sewing Company in Sarasota, FL, and operated Pauline's/ Forest Lakes Fashions in Sarasota.
She retired in 1989, moved to Gainesville in 1992, and was a caregiver for her husband until his death in 2002. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church, resident of the Atrium from 2007-09 and attended Al'z Place, a model program for memory-impaired until 2012. She was a resident of the Gainesville Health Care Center from 2012 until her death on 10-3-2013.
During her 90 years, she was a Sunday School teacher, sang alto, and played piano by shaped notes. She was a renowned seamstress, helping craft costumes for circus performers in Sarasota and teaching her family a love of needlework. She and Ervin were "green thumb" gardeners, feeding neighbors and friends from orange, grapefruit, and lemon trees. Most recently she was unchallenged crossword champion at Al'z Place and artist-in-training with the Art Without Boundaries program. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
