Bronson - James "Donald" Holmes Sr. age 80 of Bronson, FL passed away on January 5, 2013. He was born on December 11, 1932 in Otter Creek, FL to Buford and Eliza Holmes. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Otter Creek Baptist Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He served on the Levy County Board of Commissioners for 28 years and he was also a Mason for 50 years. Mr. Holmes was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Mary Holmes; son James "Don" Holmes; brother Glyn Holmes; sisters Jonel Holmes, Melba Tillis, Hilda Butler; 3 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Buford and Eliza Holmes.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 9:00-11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Bronson. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 am with Reverend Gene Keith and Reverend Troy Turner officiating. Burial is to follow at Rosemary Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home-Chiefland.
