PRISCILLA GINN
Kathryn Priscilla Ginn Pridgen, 89, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 9, 2018. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 19, 1928 to Hoke Johnson Ginn and Grace Mewborn Ginn.
Priscilla grew up in Jacksonville FL and was a graduate of Landon High School. She was a member of the highly decorated Lionettes drill team. She studied music education at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia and finished her education at the University of Georgia.
Throughout her life she was actively involved in choral music and developed the children's music programs at Trinity UMC. She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Women with a passion for missions. A charter member of KKG sorority at the University of Georgia, she also helped found the chapter at the University of Florida. You could ask her to play a hymn for any group, any time, anywhere.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years George Rodgers Pridgen. She is survived by 3 children, Ken Pridgen (Malinda) of Gainesville, Julie Niwinski (Eric) of Asheville, NC Jennifer Stetson (Charlie) of Chicago, IL.; 5 gandchildren, Amy Ballard (Kris), Andrew Pridgen (Emily) Noah Niwinski, Daniel Niwinski and Rebecca Stetson (Amelia); 6 great grandchildren, Matthew, Allison and Mallory Ballard, Jacob, Grace and Liberty Pridgen. Family, faith and music were the foundation of her long well lived life.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Ave. with Rev. Catherine Fluck Price officiating. A reception will follow. For those who wish, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32653, with a designation to either the United Methodist Women, or to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home Madison Youth Ranch.
