LEARY, KEVIN EDWARD

Kevin Edward Leary, aged 56, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.

Kevin was born on August 14, 1956 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to the late Col. Arthur J. Leary, Jr. and Mary Anne Leary. He graduated from E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and earned an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Florida. He returned to University of Florida for law school, and received his J.D. in 1986. He was a Gator at heart, and lived in Gainesville for the remainder of his life.

He was a proud member of The Florida Bar and enjoyed an active private practice, specializing in intellectual property and entertainment law. In addition to his career as an attorney, Kevin was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing the bass guitar, drums, and harmonica. He was a strong supporter of local musical talent. All who knew him were lifted by his energy, generosity, and wit.

Kevin is survived by seven siblings, Mary Anne Rosen (Michael), Patricia Peerman, Cathleen Blackmon (Gary), Colleen Jochem, Maureen Rigg, Arthur Leary, III, and Thomas Leary; and six nieces and nephews, Matthew Rosen, Marisa Rosen, Alex Peerman, Allison Blackmon, Lillian Blackmon, and Faith Jochem.
