Mr. Leo Anthony Chiodo, 79, resident of Newberry, Florida, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Chiodo was a native of Dunmore, Pennsylvania, born June 3, 1933 to the late Leo F. and Jennie Chiodo. He received his Bachelors Degree from Temple University, and spent his life as an electrical engineer, working for many years and finally retiring from Raytheon in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he lived for many years. After his retirement Mr. Chiodo returned, for a time, to Pennsylvania, before moving to Newberry ten years ago. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Chiodo; two daughters, Victoria Hoffman, of Knoxville, TN, and Deborah Chiodo of Baltimore, MD; one son, Vince (Ari) Chiodo, of Gainesville; one sister, Camille Chiodo, of Dunmore, PA; four grandchildren, Nicole McCurry, Carl Hoffman, Carlos Alvarado and Mercedes Alvarado, and three great grandchildren, Heather McCurry and Ashlee and Lexi Hoffman.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 10:00 A. M., in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., with Dr. Don McGarity, officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Gainesville Fisher House Foundation, Post Office Box 358296, Gainesville, FL 32635.
