MARK HARRELL, 49
Mark Harrell Benton, 49, a landscape business owner, from Micanopy, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in Gainesville, FL. Mark was born in Gainesville at Alachua General Hospital and lived in Alachua County all his life. He graduated from P.K. Yonge in 1982. He attended Saint Johns River Community College on a baseball scholarship and he also attended Santa Fe Community College. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Micanopy.
Mark enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a big Gator fan and loved tailgating. He also loved baseball, fishing, duck hunting, his two dogs Rudy and Dozier; and two cats, Jeffery and Dewey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Benton. He is survived by his wife Tina Benton, mother Martha Harrell Benton of Micanopy, daughter Kara Benton of Micanopy, sons Andrew Parker of Newberry, Jonah Goolsby of Waldo, Luke Goolsby and Jacob Goolsby of Gainesville, and Laban Goolsby of Lake City; his brother Eric Benton of Gainesville, sisters Teresa Benton Stewart and Viva Benton Brown of Gainesville; one granddaughter, Abbigail Parker, and many nieces and nephews. He was known affectionately as "Uncle Mark" to many.
Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 5-7PM at Milam Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday 10:00AM at First Baptist Church of Micanopy, 709 NE Cholokka Blvd. Pastor Christopher Stokes of Mount Pedro Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to:
