Gainesville - Mary Jane Mills Snyder of Gainesville died peacefully Tuesday morning, February 18, 2014, at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center. She was 93.

Mary Jane, known to those who knew her as "Jane", was born in Morriston, Florida on October 6, 1920, the 8th of 9 children, and grew up in the Morriston/Ocala community. She graduated from Williston High School where she played basketball and upon graduation she began working for Central Florida Telephone Company. She soon met and married her husband, John P. Snyder, who was with the U.S. Army Air Corps and stationed in Williston. They remained married for over 60 years. After leaving Florida to live in New Jersey for several years, where they were blessed with two sons, John and Jeff, they returned to the Ocala/ Gainesville area where she remained until her death. While in Gainesville, Jane worked for the Campus Federal Credit Union and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville. She loved to sew, do needlepoint, and was an avid Gator fan, never missing a football game if she could help it. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by many.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, John P. Snyder; survived by her brother, J.W. "Buck" Mills (wife Virginia) of Ocala; sons John M. Snyder (wife Janet) of Clarksburg, Md. and Jeffrey F. Snyder (wife Debbie) of Alachua; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
