ALFORD, RUFUS
'MATEE'
Rufus Alford, age 94, Retired Chef, US World War II Army Veteran, transitioned on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the VA Medical Center (Gainesville, FL) following a lingering illness.
Mr. Alford considered himself to be a 'professional' fisherman.
Funeral Services (with Military Honors) will be held 3:00PM Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Bartley Temple United Methodist Church (Gainesville, FL) with Reverend Mary Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery. Mr. Alford will be viewed at the Funeral Home on Saturday 2:00-7:00PM - At the Church on Sunday 30 Minutes prior to the Services - And with the Processional. The Procession will form at Mr. & Mrs. Alford's residence, 1533 SE 12th Ave, Gainesville, at 2:15PM.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife - Frances Watson Alford of Gainesville, FL; children - Gloria Johnson, Glen Rufus Alford, Valarie Perry (& Ray) and Randy Alford (Brenda Alford and Betty Young preceded him in death); 17 grandchildren; great grands; son-in-law - Johnell Young; sister-in-law - Geneva Watson; nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
