Gainesville - Mrs. Sheela Moudgil, age 58, passed away peacefully at her home in Gainesville, Florida, on May 1, 2014, surrounded by her family.

Sheela was born on September 30, 1955 to Mr. B.S. Kaushik and the late Mrs. C.K. Kaushik from New Delhi, India. She received her BS from Lady Irwin College in New Delhi. In 1973 she married Brij M. Moudgil. She then went on to pursue further education, receiving her BS and MS degrees in Accounting from the University of Florida, and earned her CPA license, all while raising her three children. Above all of her qualifications and titles, Sheela was a devoted and dedicated mother and wife. She remains the epitome of love, honor, and respect for her family.

Sheela worked at the University of Florida for nearly 25 years, most recently as Associate Controller of Finance and Accounting. Sheela will be remembered for her many virtues, including her determination, intelligence, strong work ethic, and artistic gifts.

Sheela had many talents and most importantly, always used them to benefit others. She was rare in her ability to bring people together, and to make those moments of togetherness so very memorable and special. She excelled personally and professionally and lived life with gusto, always a role model for her children.

She lives on in the hearts of her loving husband of 40 years, Brij M. Moudgil, her father B.S. Kaushik, uncle Jagdish Kaushik, daughter Suniti Moudgil, son-in-law Ravi Amaravadi, daughter Sarika Moudgil, son Bharat Moudgil, two grandchildren (Rishi and Sonali), and three sisters (Meena Gangahar, Roopa Kaushik and Pratima Mahajan).

A funeral service will be held at 11am on May 5, 2014 at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Avenue Gainesville, FL followed by a private cremation.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg or the Bladder Cancer Research Fund of the University of Pennsylvania.
