Thomas 'TJ' Strickland, 84 of Gainesville, passed away on August 1, 2018 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Mr. Strickland was born in Gainesville and a life long resident. TJ served his community well after retiring from the City Of Gainesville as Fire Chief. He was devoted to his work and friends of Alachua County. He loved to farm, golf, fish and spent a lot of time supporting the Gators and Booster Club. But his friends and family were his true love and passion of his life. Mr. Strickland was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
TJ leaves behind his loving family, a son-in-law, Clinton Sellers, his grandchildren, Kelley, Amanda and Josh, Michael and Becky, great grandchildren, Taylor, Dalton, and Hayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pansy Strickland, his children, Donna Kay Sellers and Michael J. Strickland a sister Dorothy J. Douglas.
The family will Meet at the Residence of Mr. Strickland just prior to the service. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church and the funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
