Gainesville - Bonnie Sue Miller Underwood, 59, resident of Gainesville, died Friday, February 22, 2013 at her home, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Underwood was born on May 14, 1953 in Miami, Florida, to the late Harry Leroy Miller and Mary Moss Miller. She lived in Gainesville for most of her life, graduating from Newberry High School, where she was Homecoming Queen. Mrs. Underwood worked as an IT Specialist for Shands at the University of Florida after working for many years as the director of KinderCare as "Miss Bonnie". She was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and fishing, but the greatest loves in her life were her family, particularly being "grammy" to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Donald "Don" Underwood; her mother, Mary Miller of Gainesville; three daughters, Julie (John) Moxley, of Gainesville, Jillyan McCullors, of Ocala, and Jennifer (Robert) Brookins, of Gainesville; one son, Justin (Nichole) McCullors, of Archer; one brother, Roy (Susan) Miller, of Cedar Key; her grandchildren, Ellie McCullors, Josie Moxley, Donovan Brookins, Lula McCullors and Ruby McCullors, and by many close nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered as a loving mother to all with an open heart and an open door.

A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 11:00 A.M., at Grace United Methodist Church, 9325 West Newberry Road, Gainesville, with Rev. Rick Thompson, officiating. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Grace United Methodist Church, Kids of Grace, KOG Town, 9325 W. Newberry Road, Gainesville, FL 32606.
