Vivian M. Kemker, 75, of Gainesville, Florida, originally from Battlecreek, Iowa, passed away November 5, 2012 after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was the first of 13 children of the Vermeys family. Vivian was the most loving and caring wife and mother. She received her Bachelors of nursing degree at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN. She had a distinguished nursing career capped by various positions at Shands Teaching Hospital, the Alachua County School System and over a decade of service at Children's Medical Services. Vivian, along with her husband, is a founding member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Francis J. Kemker; three sons, Bryan (Judy) Kemker, Brett (Denise) Kemker and Brad (Dori) Kemker; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cameron, Joe and Nicholas.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 6:00-7:00pm at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with a Rosary starting at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 9, 2012 at 12:00pm at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Fr. Jeff McGowan as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Catholic Charities of Gainesville, 1701 NE 9th Street, Gainesville, FL 32609.
