Gainesville - William "Bill" Cannon, 87, died on May 21, 2013 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, Florida.

Bill was born June 2, 1925 in Statesboro, GA, to Benjamin E. and Mamie Ruth Woods Cannon.

He was a U.S. Army World War ll Veteran.

Bill worked for Central of Georgia Railroad in Savannah. In 1967, he moved to Florida to own and operate an agricultural operation. In 1978, Bill came to Gainesville where he owned and operated a vending business until his retirement.

Bill was a member of North Central Baptist Church, and was a faithful servant of God.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Eliza Ann Brannen Cannon; son Neal Cannon; daughter Nancy Cannon, and one brother, Hugh Don (Jeanette) Cannon of Winder, GA.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 12:00 noon, in "The Chapel in the Meadows" Forest Meadows Mausoleum, at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 N.W. 39th Ave., Gainesville. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until noon.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that expressions of sympathy be made to the North Central Baptist Church "Above and Beyond" building fund, 8001 NW 23rd Ave., Gainesville, FL 32606.
