William Robert (Bob) Stevens passed away at Palm Gardens in Gainesville, Florida on Friday, March 29, 2013 after a short illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 14, 1928. He was the only child of Will and Grace Adams Stevens, both of whom were educators. His father was the principal of an elementary school in Jacksonville and his mother taught sixth grade at P.K. Yonge School for many years.

After graduating from P. K. Yonge, Bob followed in his parents' footsteps and became an educator himself, graduating from the University of Florida College of Education in 1949. He first taught high school in Alachua, Florida and after receiving his Master's Degree, taught at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. During his tenure at Hillsdale, he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Commander.

Bob returned to Gainesville after retiring from Hillsdale College. He worked as an appraiser for Arnold Realty for a number of years and later served as the night manager for Rush Lake Motel.

Bob never married. He is survived by his first cousin Anne Adams of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, several distant cousins with whom he frequently corresponded and many friends. He will be interred in his family's cemetery near DePauw, Indiana.
