Wilson Donald Mooney was born on February 7, 1930 and passed away peacefully on December 31, 2012. He was a Christian and was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lottieville. He was the only son of Jewell and Norman Mooney. Donald was a lifelong resident of Gilchrist County. He worked and retired from White Construction Company after 40 years as a dragline operator.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Delsie Patricia Jones Mooney, one son, Wilson Donald Mooney, Jr. and three sisters: Rossie Mae, Odessa and Oveida.

Survivors include his three daughters and their husbands, Darlene & Rusty Wilson of DeFuniak Springs, Cynthia and Chad Bankston of Newberry and Kim and Jerry Alan Colson of Wilcox. He has four grandchildren, Brooke, Brett, Tyler and Paige and one great grandson, Carson; one sister, Ruby Martin Langford of Wilcox, along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donald loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. He loved to go hunting and fishing. He enjoyed riding around with Thomas to check the river and visiting with anyone that was willing to talk to them. He also loved serving his community and could always be depended on to help any time he was called on.

Donald was a kind, simple man, never complaining, and was always appreciative of kindness shown to him.

Watson Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 5-7 P.M. at the Watson Funeral Home Chapel in Trenton. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Ahrens officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery.

Flowers are being accepted; however donations to the Gideons International in memory of Donald would be welcome. Instructions for donations are online at Gideon Expressions: Tribute Cards: Select Donation.
