BERNHARDT, ROCHELLE SOLOMON
Gainesville, FL. (Formerly of East Brunswick & Monroe Township, NJ) - Rochelle Solomon Bernhardt passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 in Gainesville, FL, after a long illness. She was 74.
Born in Neptune, NJ, she grew up in Morganville, NJ and spent her childhood in the Morganville General Store on the corner of Spring Valley and Tennent Road, owned and operated by her parents, Abe and May Solomon. She was the valedictorian of her senior class at Freehold High School in 1956 and graduated from Douglass College at Rutgers in 1960. She taught special education at Appleby Public Elementary School in Spotswood, NJ for many years and was active in the leadership of many Jewish organizations, including the Alisa Chapter of Hadassah in Monroe Township, NJ.
Mrs. Bernhardt was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Lewis Bernhardt in 1998.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jay and Sheryl Bernhardt of Gainesville, FL; son Marc Bernhardt of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren Lila and Nathan Bernhardt of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren Lewis and Daniel Bernhardt of Winston-Salem, NC; and brother and sister-in-law David and Judy Solomon of Montville, NJ.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, 8:45 AM in the MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, Cranbury Road at Evergreen Boulevard, East Brunswick. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. For directions, please visit www.msmc.us.
