POLLETTA, THOMAS
ALBERT
Mr. Thomas Albert Polletta, 53, of Gainesville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at his home, following a long illness.
Mr. Polletta was born March 2, 1959 in St. Petersburg, Florida, to the late Shirley Margaret Polleta. He worked for many years as a K-9 Police Officer, for the Gulfport Police Department and the Hernando County Sheriff's Department. After moving to Gainesville, he managed Central Florida Towing, until his health forced his retirement in 2009. He loved animals and especially his dogs. Mr. Polletta was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Community.
Survivors include; his Father, Albert J. Polletta, of Gainesville; two sisters, Sheila J. (Ed) Brown, of Gainesville, and Sharon (Steve) Amick, of Knoxville, TN; three nieces, Sheryl (Chris) Montrowl, of Gainesville, Stacie (Keith) Whinnery, of Milton, Stefanie (Joe ) Peters, of West Palm Beach; three nephews, Ed Brown, Jr., of Corpus Christi, TX, Scott Amick, and Spencer (Tina) Amick, both of Knoxville, TN; nine great nieces and nephews, a close friend, Jesse Almeida, of Keystone Heights, along with many other dear friends, and extended family.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, July 9, 2012 at 1:00 P.M., in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Avenue, Gainesville, with Fr. Kazimierz Ligeza, celebrant. Memorial donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
