Mrs. Berry Beatrice Fletcher of Old Town, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland, she was 96.
Mrs. Fletcher was a life long resident of Dixie County and a member of the Rock Sink Baptist Church; she was very active with her church serving in various capacities including Church Clerk for 20 years, Church Treasurer, Training Union Director Sunday School Teacher and working with the Youth taking them to Ridgecrest several times. She was a Stay at home Mom, except for a time she served as a Bus Driver, for the School System of Dixie County. She was also a talented seamstress making clothes for her family and she was a quilter. In addition she enjoyed flower gardening, putting up vegetables, swimming in the springs, fishing, and taking care of her young'uns and grand-young'uns.
Mrs. Fletcher is survived by two sons, Freddie (Sherry) Fletcher of Old Town and Tom (Marcy) Fletcher of Perry; three Daughters, Venora Fletcher (James) Griffen of Gainesville, Theresa Fletcher Lee of Old Town and Loycelle Fletcher Dickert of Cross City; three Sisters, Oveida Jones of Old Town, Juanita Simmons of High Springs and Mittie Bennett of Bell, Sister-in-Law Corris Cannon of Alachua; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Fred Fletcher; her parents Berry Ann and Addie Cannon; daughter Ellen Fletcher; brother Lamar Cannon; sisters Estelle Cannon and Bertie Jones; son-in-law George Dickert and foster child Jackie Barber.
Visitation for Mrs. Fletcher will be held, Friday, July 13, 2012 between the hours of 6 and 8 P.M., at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Rock Sink Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Cranford and Rev. Jake Cravey officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Sink Baptist Church Cemetery.
