Cylia Dell Gordon Fairweather of Gainesville died Thursday, September 27th at Shands Hospital after a long illness. She was born May 17, 1943 to Harold Gordon and Zalah Rochester Gordon at Bull Savannah St. Elizabeth Jamaica W. Indies Ms. Fairweather attended the Bull Savannah Primary School after which she attended Mt. St. Joseph Academy where she excelled in Shorthand and typing which landed her a job with the law firm of Delephena and Iver.
She decided to migrate in the late 60's to the US where she worked for the World Bank in Washington DC. Then onto Connecticut where she worked for Mrs. John Thompson for a short period of time. Cylia made her last move to Gainesville, Fl and has been here for the last 35 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories son Gordon Fairweather; grandson Cleveland Fairweather; granddaughter Tray Fairweather; sisters Beulah Roye (Milton), Enid Maude Gordon, Alda Holness, Inez Powell and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends in the US and Jamaica.
Memorial Service at the Z.L. Sung Church on Sat. Oct. 13th at 3 p.m. with Pastor Dan Graham officiating.
