Mr. Jonathan Robert "Bob" Taylor, Jr., of Gainesville, Florida, died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center, following a brief illness.

Mr. Taylor was born in Homerville, Georgia on October 5, 1934 to the late Jonathan Robert, Sr., and Pauline Alma Taylor. He served in the U.S. Army, and then moved with his family to Gainesville in 1970. Mr. Taylor had been employed by Florida Farm Bureau for 37 years until his retirement in 1998 as District Sales Manager, he also taught insurance licensing at Santa Fe Community College. His greatest work was serving the Lord through his work as a member of North Gainesville Baptist Church, where he served as head of Deacons, and as a Sunday School teacher. He will be remembered as a loving husband to his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Taylor, who preceded him in death in 2008. He loved his family and his church family very much.

He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca (Oscar) Taylor-Allen, of Middleburg; two sons, Christopher Alan (Renee) Taylor, of Jacksonville, and Robert Vince (LaTrelle) Taylor, of High Springs; eight grandchildren, Laine Elizabeth Allen, Morgan Taylor, Kelly Taylor, Erica Taylor, Victoria Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Megan Atkins, and Joshua Atkins.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 12:00 P.M., in the North Gainesville Baptist Church, 6203 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, with Rev. Gary Manning, officiating. Interment will follow in Countryside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 A. M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the North Gainesville Baptist Church Building Fund, 6203 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32606.
