DAVIS, IRA A., 64
Waldo - Ira A. "Skippy" Davis, age 64 of Waldo, previously of Keystone Heights, passed away March 10, 2013 at E.T. York Hospice Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born September 02, 1948 in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1966. He worked for Winn Dixie Stores, Inc. for over 42 combined years, the City of Gainesville and the Gainesville Police Department.
An avid outdoorsman, Skippy enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was a long time member of the Keystone Heights Sportsmen Club and volunteered for the Keystone Heights Fire Department. He loved Gator Sports.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Albert "Al" Davis, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Polsen Davis; mother, Shirlie Davis of Keystone Heights; son, Michael S. Davis of Starke; daughters, Trisha Barker (Bill) of Orlando, Lindsey Snyder (Rob) of Cut Bank, MT, Kimberly Henrikson (Steve) of Hampton, sister, Alice Jean Swink (Ron) of Tannersville, PA, brothers, Dale Davis of Gainesville, Rik Davis (Hilma) Pearson, Scott Davis of Deltona, David Davis (Christine) of Keystone Heights, 10 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at the First Baptist Church in Waldo. A family visitation is scheduled for 1:00 PM and the memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM. As per Skippy's request, friends and family are encouraged to wear jeans or camouflage.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in the memory of Ira A. "Skippy" Davis, can be sent to Haven Hospice, 4200 N.W. 90th Blvd., Gainesville, Florida, 32606.
Skippy's typical goodbye was always "we'll see ya when we see ya!".
