Gainesville - Charles "Hubert" Spurlin passed away on March 5, 2014, at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center in St. Petersburg, FL after an extended illness. He was born in Green Creek, NC in 1922, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and lived in Gainesville for the past 66 years. He was retired from the City of Gainesville as a mini-bus driver.

He is survived by his daughter, Judith Davis, sisters-in-law Myrtle Caswell and Ruth Johnson, and his closest nephews, Mel Caswell and Fred Sergeant, as well as his many good friends at Pinewood Terrace in Gainesville.

Hubert was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Avaree, and special friend, Molly Clevenger.

Friends and family will gather for a life celebration at Forest Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, 725 NW 23rd Ave. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Meadows Memorial Park East.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Suncoast Hospice Foundation (1-727-523-2441), 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760 in appreciation for the wonderful care that they provided Hubert and his family.
