Newberry - Mildred Miller Parker of Newberry, Florida went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Plantation Oaks Senior Living Residence in High Springs, Florida at age 88. She was born October 20, 1925, near Dunnellon, Florida, the daughter of Jimmie and Nettie Miller.
Following the early death of her mother, Mildred was raised by her maternal grandparents, Henry and Jessie Roddenberry. She was united in marriage to Davis Henry Parker on December 26, 1945. Davis and Mildred lived in Newberry from 1946-1979. Following the sale of the family business, Limestone Products, Inc., they retired to the community of Suwannee in 1979. Following Davis' death in 1984, Mildred returned to the Newberry area. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Newberry, as well as a respected and beloved member of the community. Mildred took an active role in the lives of her family, including a special joy in all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had a great love of travel, and proved to be a very competitive in any game of cards.
In addition to her husband, Davis, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Nettie Miller, her parents-in-law, Henry and Elma "Mamoo" Parker, a brother, Leon Miller, an infant son and many other dear family and friends.
Mildred will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Joyce (George) Green of Alachua; Gloria (Condy) Jones of Newberry; Teresa Parker of St. Augustine; a son, David (Ellen) Parker of Archer; nine grandchildren, Tscharna (Joe) Senn of Alachua; Yancy (Robert) Lawrence of Newberry; Justin (Christy) Green of Alachua; Stephanie (Tom) Farmer of Orlando; Brandon (Michelle) Jones of Trenton; Melanie (Gil) Parker of Dahlonega; Ashley Parker of Alachua; Matthew Parker of Neptune Beach; Darla Parker of Archer; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mildred was a devoted daughter, loving wife, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, as well as a cherished friend to so many. The Family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this time of loss.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Newberry United Methodist Church, 24845 West Newberry Road, with Dr. Gary Brady and The Rev. Kenneth W. Kleckner officiating. Interment will follow in the Saint Johns Cemetery.
