Mrs. Effie L. McClellan, age 76, passed away March 23, 2014 at Shands Hospital UF. Mrs. McClellan was a member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church where she served as a member of the Women's Missionary Society, and the Choir.

She is survived by her children Charles (CJ) Washington (Terri), Hampton L. McClellan (Bonita), David G. McClellan, Donald K. McClellan, Denise C. McClellan; sisters, Vivian Lee Filer, Karen Sue Johnson, all of Gainesville, FL, Sarah Francis Brown (Rev. Joseph Brown, Jr.), Cynthia Valencia Powell (Samuel), Mt. Vernon, NY; ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. McClellan will be held 11:00am, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, Rev. Jacquelyn L. Dupree, Pastor, Rev. Geraldine W. McClellan, Officiating; burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home, Inc., 18 N.W. 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.

Mrs. McClellan will repose in the Chestnut Memorial Chapel on Friday from 2:00 until 7:00pm, the family will receive friends on from 6:00 until 7:00pm; Friday at the Chapel; on Saturday at the Church from 10:00am until the hour of service. Family and friends are asked to meet at the home of Mrs. McClellan, 928 N.E. 19th St., Gainesville, FL, at 10:15am to form the cortege.
