Gainesville - Wilbur L. Wood, Sr., age 95, of Gainesville, FL passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Clare Bridge of Gainesville assisted living home where he had been a resident for many years. Wilbur was born in Limaville, Ohio on June 16, 1918. He graduated from Redlands High School in Dade County and attended the University of Florida. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Mr. Wood was a longtime resident, rancher, and farmer in Alachua County.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Juliet Babbit Wood, his son Dr. Wilbur L. Wood, Jr., daughter-in-law Barbara Overton Wood, daughter Juliet Wood Thaxton, grandchildren Kristi Lovelace, Trey Thaxton, Lisa Kinsell, and Will Wood, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 100 NE First Street, Gainesville, FL. Interment will follow in Newnansville Cemetery in Alachua, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
