AUDREY LOUISE JONES, 89

High Springs - Audrey Louise Jones Marvel, 89, of High Springs, FL, died June 2nd, 2014, in her home and surrounded by loving family.

Born February 27th, 1925 in Northampton, MA to the late John Owen Jones and Louise Mandigo Jones, and raised in Haydenville, MA. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1941 and Northampton Commercial College in 1943. During World War II, she was employed with the U.S. Department of Navy in Washington, DC, and later on, with the Alachua County School Board Food Service while living in Gainesville, FL. Married to Mason E. Marvel on September 21, 1945 at Post Chapel Number 1, Maxwell Field Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL. Throughout their sixty-nine years of marriage, they resided in Amherst, MA, Blacksburg, VA, Morgantown, WV, East Lansing, MI, Gainesville, FL, Auburn, AL, and finally, High Springs, FL. She traveled extensively throughout the world and lived in Malaysia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia.

Predeceased by her three sons Andrew, John, and Eric Marvel and sister Lorraine Jones Himmelman. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Mason Marvel, son Daniel (Sandra) Marvel of High Springs, FL, daughters Priscilla (Ricardo) Gasteazoro of San Salvador, El Salvador and Margaret Marvel of Tallahassee, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John (Granya) Marvel, Emily Marvel, Jose (Michelle) Gasteazoro, and Adriana Gasteazoro. Audrey loved to read, cook, and be in nature. She was an avid sewer and a member of the Embroiderer's Guild of America. Always loving and cheerful, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, June 7th, 11:00a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of High Springs with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, 51 Main St, Deltona, FL 32725 or Hospice of the Nature Coast, 150 N Main St, High Springs, FL 32643.
