Andrew "Andy" Lee Moats, 86, of Gainesville, FL went to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 5th, 2014.

He was born to the late James Charles Moats and Jesse Leon Moats-Benson on April 19th, 1928 in Louden, TN. He was preceded in death by his brother Carl Moats and Andy has one sister, Juanita Moats-Bosley.

Andy served as an Aviation Engineer in the Marines from 1946-47. Andy met the love of his life Barbara Ann Fortenberry and they soon married on July, 20th, 1947. Andy and Barbara settled in, making Knoxville, TN their home. Andy lost his amazing wife and mother of his children as Barbara passed away unexpectedly in 1994. Andy leaves behind 7 children, Andrew Lee Moats Jr. (Butch), Patricia (Patsy) Moats-Cuccaro, James (Jimmy) Leon Moats with Laura Jones, Michael Charles Moats with Vicki Gunter, Dianna Louise Moats-Martin and husband Michael Dale Martin, Carol Lynn Moats-Bass and husband Robert Brady Bass and his youngest daughter Melody Moats-Clark. He has a total of 107 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Andy's passion has always been in music and serving our Father in heaven. When Andy wasn't writing songs about Jesus, he was preaching the gospel, from 1980-2006 he ran Andrews House of God and built a mission to help others with his Charity Chain for Christ.

Andy's passion for life will truly be missed by his family and friends. Andy once wrote a song ..." he is looking for the man, looking for the right man...looking for the man with the nail scars in his hands", we all know his searching is over now, he is in heaven and he has finally found him.
