Gainesville - John R. Evans, a native of Gainesville, Florida born on October 28, 1940 to John T. & Precious Mobley Evans. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School's Class of 1958. Mr. Evans was employed for many years as a professional truck, and retired from the St. Bernardino Medical Center, as an Engineering Technician.

Mr. Evans entered the sunset of life on Saturday, June 14, 2014, with his love ones by his side.

Those cherishing his memories so lovingly in their hearts include his two sons, J.R. (Alfreda) Evans, West Palm Beach, Fla., Jayson Evans, Ocala, Fla.; two beloved daughters Belinda (Thomas) Sell, St. Augustine, Fla., Tijuana Evans-Griffin, Gainesville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, three caring sisters, Marjorie (George) Ayers, Gainesville, Fla.; Lelia (Ted) Evans-Whyte, Dover, DE; Johnnie Mae Hauser, St. Augustine, Fla.

Funeral Services for Mr. Evans will be held, 11:00am, Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Highlands Presbyterian Church, burial will follow in Grasslawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home, Inc., 18 N.W. 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.

Mr. Evans will repose in the Chestnut Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 2:00 until 7:00pm, and on Saturday at the Church from 10:00am until the hour of Service. The family will receive friends on Friday in the Chapel from 6:00 until 7:00pm. Family and friends are asked to meet on Saturday at the home of Mr. Evans, 426 S.E. 13th Terrace, Gainesville at 10:15am to form the cortege.
