The Bishop family is saddened to announce the passing of their beloved family member, Gregory Thomas Bishop, 52 of Gainesville, FL on Thursday June 19th, 2014 in the early morning hours surrounded by family and friends. He passed away after a brave 4 year-long battle with cancer, alongside with the loving and caring staff from Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL.

Greg was a lifelong Gainesville resident, attending public schools such as Westwood Middle School, Gainesville High School, and ultimately graduating from Gainesville Academy in 1980. Immediately after graduation he began working with his family's business, Pinewood Properties, Inc.

Greg was an avid fisherman and spent many weekends in Crystal River with family and friends. He and his Dad, Doug Bishop, along with family and many friends, attended every home football game for decades.

In November of 1994, Greg married his soul-mate Kimberly Ines at Trinity United Methodist Church. They built a home in Pine Hill Estates, and have lived there ever since. Many great memories with friends and family were made at their home. Later in their marriage, on January 22nd, 2009, God blessed Greg and Kimberly with a beautiful little girl, Kendylle Elizabeth Bishop. And in the short time Greg spent with his daughter, he made a lifetime of memories with her.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Pam Bishop in 2012.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Ines Bishop; his daughter, Kendylle Elizabeth Bishop; his son from a previous relationship, Kirk Bishop; his father, Doug Bishop; sisters, Donna Eiland and Sande Hunter. Many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and extended family in Cedar Key, FL are all mourning his passing as well.

Greg's life ended as President of Pinewood Properties, son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend of so very many. He touched the lives of literally hundreds of tenants who turned into friends throughout his career. His passion for life and for his family & friends cannot be properly conveyed with mere words. Greg was one of a kind, a unique person who is loved by hundreds of people from all over Florida and beyond. As a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gainesville, FL he helped the church with programs such as "Alpha" and several retreats and other events too.

A Celebration of Greg's Life will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Avenue, with Dr. Dan G. Johnson officiating. A reception will follow at the church. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning in Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
