NADEAU, LEONARD ONILE

Leonard Onile Nadeau was born August 5, 1929 in Pittsfield, MA to Sara Ouelette and Henry Nadeau. Beloved husband to Pauline (Youcis), father to Henry G. Nadeau and Michael Nadeau (Mary Kate Walker), and grandfather to Christina Nadeau, he will be deeply missed by our family, our friends, and our community. He passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.

Leonard was known in the community since 1958 for his civil engineering designs. Growing up in Edmundston, NB, Canada, he joined the Army serving in all five major battles of the Korean War with the 14th Combat Engineer Battalion. After mapping asbestos mines in Newfoundland, he made a vacation trip to Florida and decided to stay.

Leonard was a founding member of Holy Faith Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of the VFW.
