Gainesville - Robert Elwin Jewett M.D. died Monday, June 30 2014 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville FL, with his two closest friends beside him. Bob was born February 3, 1934 in Leslie Michigan, the only child of Elwin S. and Marie Hull Jewett.

He attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate and medical education, receiving his M.D. degree in 1958. Following his medical internship and a fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Kansas, he joined the faculty of Emory University School of Medicine. Over the years he became more involved with administration rising to the post of Executive Associate Dean at Emory University. He was the founding Dean of the medical school at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN., and also served as Associate Dean at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton Ohio. He retired as Vice President of the National Board of Medical Examiners in Philadelphia PA.

While he leaves no immediate descendants he is survived by a cadre of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. He touched so many lives over the years and will continue to do so with his legacy to support education and care of children.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
