THOMAS HENRY, M.D., 82
Dr. Thomas Henry Moore, Jr. age 82, died Thursday August 28, 2014 at North Florida Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. Dr. Moore is preceded in death by his father Tom Moore, Sr., mother Dorothy Moore and sister Dot Hickrod. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Barbara, two children Emmy and Tommy, grandchildren Rowan and Liam, and numerous loving family members and friends. Tom spent four years in the Navy on the USS Rockbridge, graduated from New York University in 1957, graduated from the University of Florida Medical School with his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1962. His residency was under the renowned Dr. William Enneking, Orthopaedic Surgeon. Tom practiced medicine in Gainesville for over 30 years. He was a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a former Chief of Surgery at Alachua General Hospital, a member of the Alachua County Medical Society, a member of the Gainesville Quarterback Club, active in the Gainesville Rotary Club, and a former Gainesville High School Band Booster.
The family extends deep gratitude to the medical staff at NFRMC Emergency Room for their compassionate care of Tom. Memorial Services will be conducted at Queen of Peace Catholic Community, Saturday September 6, 2014 at 1:00PM with reception to follow at the church, 10900 S.W. 24thAvenue, Gainesville, FL 32608. Casual attire please, no ties necessary.
