Muriel Avellaneda, born in Argentina in 1977, passed away on Sunday 3, 2010 in Gainesville. She moved to Gainesville with her parents Andrés and Margarita in 1979, and did all her schooling, elementary through high school, at Oak Hall School. She obtained a B.A. at New College of Florida and an M.A. at Florida State University. She was an expert in older and contemporary rock music, read American and international literature and philosophy in three languages, wrote poetry and fiction, loved cats, shoes, books and "Scrubs". She is survived by her parents, Andres and Margarita, her grandfather Andres L. Avellaneda, her stepmother Geraldine Nichols and stepfather Jorge Martínez, her stepbrothers Jeremy and Wesley Nichols, stepsisters Joanne Martinez von Gonten amd Christine M. Jacobus, and an extended family in Buenos Aires.
