The Guest Book is expired.
Dorothy C. Cline, age 92, died in the arms of her Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2010. She was born and reared in Pittsburgh, PA, the oldest of five siblings and the only survivor. She attended the University of Pittsburgh at the age of 16. Her employment career began at the Mellon Institute Bureau of Mines where she met her husband, the late Dr. Edwin L. Cline. She and her husband were avid duplicate bridge players. Her devotion to her church was manifested in many ways including Altar Guild and fund raising activities. A move to Merritt Island, FL upon her husband's retirement initiated a new career as a newspaper journalist. His declining health brought them to Gainesville to be near two of their daughters. She became the Executive Director of the Acorn Medical Clinic in Brooker, FL and she also initiated an after school program for "latch-key" children in Gainesville. She and her husband joined Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild, the Outreach Commission and the St Elizabeth Circle. She later became a member of St Andrews Missionary Episcopal Church. Other interests included cooking, reading, collecting, gardening, swimming ( she was an early member of Gainesville Health and Fitness Club) and creator of stained glass pieces.
She is survived by her daughters Nancy Anderson of Jacksonville, FL, Cathy Cappello of Nevada, Dorie Garnett of Gainesville, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Church, 2715 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32605. Interment will be immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Church.
