WELCH, SR., KENNETH J.

Mr. Kenneth J. Welch, Sr., age 56, passed away March 18, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Gainesville, FL. Mr. Welch was a member of Jerusalem Church of God By Faith, serving as Secretary for the Brotherhood of Zion, and a member of the Choir; he was a graduate of Gainesville High School, Class of 1972, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his father, Rollan Welch, brothers; Elder Mark Welch, and Rollan Welch, Jr.

He is survived by his wife; Joyce P. Welch, Gainesville, FL, children; Torrance Welch, Clearwater, FL, Kenneth J. Welch, Jr., Jacksonville, FL Kenneth Hodge, Jacksonville, NC, both of, Jarell Rudolph, Gainesville, FL, Shamika Ferguson, California, MD, Katorra Lotson, Richmond Hill, GA, mother, Cora Welch, Gainesville, FL, sister; Loretta Jones, Gainesville, FL, mother-in-law; Bernice R. Bogan, Gainesville, FL, father-in-law; Earnest T. Pitts, Gainesville, FL, sisters-in-law; Lydia Bogan, Gainesville, FL, Mary Welch, St. Petersburg, FL, brother-in-law; Roger Pitts, Gainesville, FL, and thirteen grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Welch will be held, 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Jerusalem Church of God By Faith, Monteocha, FL, Elder Daniel Gainey, Pastor, Pastor Alfred Hicks, Officiating; burial will follow in Forest Meadows Cemetery-East, Gainesville, FL. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home, Inc., 18 N.W. 8th Ave., Gainesville, FL.

Mr. Welch will repose in the Chestnut Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 2-7pm. Family and friends are asked to meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Welch, 3231 S. E. 22nd Place, Gainesville, FL, at 11:15am to form the cortege.
