RENA deROCHEMONT Obituary

deROCHEMONT, RENA

Rena deRochemont, 63, of Gainesville, FL, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville ending a courageous nine year battle with melanoma. She was born on November 2, 1948 in Milledgeville, GA and graduated from Port St. Joe (FL) High School in 1966. Rena enjoyed living in the Gainesville area since 1974 and it was here that she met her soul mate, Bob, at National Vacuum in 1987. Rena was later employed at National Vacuum where she had many responsibilities. Rena was a beautiful, charming individual who truly celebrated life. She had a fantastic sense of humor that remained with her until the end. She was a loving wife, mother, and a great friend to everyone who was lucky enough to have met her. She was passionate about photography and scrapbooking, but loved nothing more than spending time with her husband, her family, and especially her grandchildren. She also loved riding her bicycle, motorcycle, and working out. Rena is survived by her husband, Bob deRochemont, her three daughters: Wendy Wynn Roberson, Amy Wynn Driggers - husband Stacey, Jenny Wynn Simmons - husband Aaron, and son Ted Wynn; her grandchildren: Jered, Jesse and Travis Roberson, Jordan Heath, Jillian and Jenna Driggers, Hunter Simmons, and Rob deRochemont. She is also survived by two sisters: Jolene Henley and Kay Lovett - husband Denny.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 15th at 2:00 PM at Milam Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior. Arrangements are under the care of MILAM FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 311 S. MAIN ST., GAINESVILLE, FL 32601. 352-376-5361.

She still remains in my memory and all the joy she brought to me and our scrapbooking family. I think of her and the memories we were able to make in such a brief time stay with me as if it was only yesterday. Keeping you all in my prayers as we mark another year gone by without our sweet Rena. Love & prayers to Bob as we mark this anniversary of her passing. I know your heart was shattered when Rena left us... we are all in good company bound up together by our mutual love for this wonderful, graceful and beautiful spirit.

Dear Bob and family, It was my privilege to become friends with Rena through our love of scrapbooking. It was my pleasure to develope a friendship over the past 2 years and to visit you both at the cottage in NH. Rena was one of the most gracious and kind people I have ever known and I wanted you to know I will miss her terribly. She was truly a lady of grace and extreme faith and courage. Her battles are now over and I am certain she now sits at the feet of Jesus, whole and well and celebrating her homecoming with Him. I know we will see each other again but until that time I hope you will remember always that she was about love, for you Bob, her children and her beloved grandchildren and that love will be with you for the rest of your days. My heartfelt sympathy to all who know and love Rena. Bob, I'm keeping you especially in my prayers for comfort and understanding in this time of your great loss.

My heart felt condolencestoyou and all the family. I never met Rena only knew her through the my memories page. I lost my dad a year ago to a tragic accident, even though your wife had never met me or my family she sent a card that made all of us feel cared for. She was an amazing lady and I will never forget her.

To the family of Rena DeRochemont:

I would like to extend my heart-felt condolences in the loss of this lovely and courageous lady.

I have been a customer of the store and our son has been a member of staff for many years now. I have met and spoken with Rena on occasion and remember her as a lovely, gracious woman who met no strangers. I felt very welcomed each time we met.

I know the pain of losing a member of one's family but also know the memories will become sweeter and more vibrant with the passage of time.

I pray for your peace of mind and healing in the coming times and that you will begin to hear her voice in the music of the wind and see her lovely face in the scenes of nature where you most certainly shared your lives with her. Our memories are our most precious commodities...treasure each and every one of them.

The pain of the human experience is now over for Rena and she most certainly has received the relief of rest we all so sorely need and look for at the ends of our walks on this earth. It is we who are left behind who suffer, for she no longer feels pain or sorrow. Gather strength in that knowledge.
