On December 2, 2012, Zigmind W. Zemba left this earthly chapter of his life journey and started on his eternal one with God.
Zig was born on January 19, 1928 in York Run, Pennsylvania. He served in the army and then attended the University of Pittsburgh where he studied Engineering. He married his wife of 57 years Mary Zemba on May 14, 1955. Zig was blessed to retire from Rockwell International (Boeing) in 1991 after a long career in which he held many positions. He enjoyed his family, his pets and loved building almost anything with his array of tools.
Zig is survived by his wife Mary Zemba of Gainesville, Fl., his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kathy Dawan Zemba of Gainesville, Fl, his daughter, Marilyn Zemba, of Gainesville, Fl., his sister Victoria Nied, of Uniontown, Pa., and cats, Bull-winkle and Natasha.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 3:30 P.M. in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Avenue, Gainesville, with Fr. Kazimierz Ligeza, celebrant, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to make a lasting impact on the lives of others to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606, www.havenhospice.org, or to the Kenya Self- Help Project, www.kenyaselfhelp.org.
