DeGROVE, LEON CLARK

Leon Clark DeGrove of Gainesville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. He was 87. Mr. DeGrove was born in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Gainesville in 1989.

Mr. DeGrove served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had a career in hospital administration serving in hospitals in Jacksonville, Hollywood, and West Palm Beach, and was hospital administrator at Hollywood Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet McArthur DeGrove after 55 years of marriage. Survivors include a brother, Joseph Lavern DeGrove; two sons and their wives, Bruce and Cecile DeGrove and Paul and Gail DeGrove; three grandchildren, Jeremy DeGrove, Kimberly Tingle, and Eric DeGrove, and six great grandchildren, Michelle, Dylan, Charles and Violet DeGrove and Allison and Olivia Tingle.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, with Dr. Gary Crawford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning a 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be private in Florida National Cemetery.
