Gainesville - Marvin S. Kranz 89, of Gainesville Florida, passed away on January 12, 2013.

Marvin was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and lived in the Chicago area until moving to Florida in 1982.

Marvin attended the University of Florida and got his Graduate Degree in 1950.

He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He was an Assistant Instructor in Romance Languages at the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to his retirement, he was a Senior Merchandise Manager for Sears Roebuck for 28 years. Marvin was a World War Two veteran and in the Battle of the Bulge.

During his retirement years he enjoyed participating in the Great Books Discussions.

He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 33 years; his sons Mark R. Kranz (Deborah) of Vero Beach, Fl. and Ken J. Kranz of Rockford, MI; grandson Kyle W. Kranz of Kalamazoo, MI.

A service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

Donations can be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd, Gainesville, Florida 32606 in lieu of flowers.
