Windsor - Daniel Ples Monroe Cooey, III, 73, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 in North Florida Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 15, 1939 in Perry, Florida to Daniel Ples Monroe Cooey, Jr. and Louise Ward Cooey. He attended Gainesville High School and then proudly served for 7 years in the United States Marine Corp. In 1964 he went to work for Southern Bell and in 1975 he began his own business, Hogtown Underground, Inc. Mr. Cooey was a pioneer member of Providence United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Bobbie Faye Dobbs Cooey of Windsor, FL; son, William P. Crummett of Washington DC, daughter, Marjorie Elizabeth Cooey Frauen (Jim) of Dade City, FL, son, Roger Michael Shultis of Gainesville, FL and daughter, Robin Lynn Shultis Souder (Tom)of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Wanda Mayo Cooey Swartz of Bryson City, NC and Mary Lou Cooey Crawford of Windsor, FL; half sisters, Delores Padgett Ansell of Columbus, MS, Geneva Padgett of Perry, FL and Judy Cooey Davis of Windsor, FL; former wife, Linda Gardner of Ormond Beach, FL; grandchildren, Ashley, Andria, Brittany, Brandon, Haley Danielle, Hanna, Krista, Olivia, Hayden, Parker, Tucker Daniel, and Kim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be held Monday, February 18, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in Providence Cemetery, 13705 East CR 1474, Windsor, with Pastor Mark Ward officiating. WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street is in charge of the arrangements.
