J.D. Sanders, Sr., passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from natural causes. Born Jennings David Sanders on November 1, 1926 in Dixie County, Florida to the late Mamie and Dell Sanders. As a teenager he joined the Merchant Marines to help with the war effort. He later served in the U.S. Army and came home to finish his education. He married Dorothy Moore Sanders, who preceded him in death last year. After many years with a national company he founded his pride and joy, JD SANDERS TRAILER SALES in 1971 and stayed active in the business until last year. He was a proud member of RT Schafer Masonic Lodge and Grace Baptist Church.

He is survived by his three sons, Dell Sanders (Shirley), J. David Sanders, Jr. (Cheryl) and Hal Sanders; sister, Ina Mae Sanders and six grandchildren, Sharon Sanders of Lake Worth, FL, Rex Sanders of San Francisco, Jack Sanders, Christopher, Bryan (Amanda) and Jay Sanders, all of Gainesville.

Above all he will be remembered for his kindness, his faith in God, his integrity, work ethic and honesty in all dealings. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 10:30 am in the Grace Baptist Church, 7100 NW 39th Ave, with Rev. Jim Riley officiating. Interment will follow in High Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
